Thriving in School: Building Stronger Learning Opportunities in Southern Honduras

Thanks to your support, Fundación Agrolíbano continues expanding educational opportunities for children in rural communities across Valle and Choluteca. During the first months of 2026, we strengthened learning environments through a combination of educational support, infrastructure improvements, nutritional monitoring, and community engagement. Through our Together for Education program, educational materials were delivered to 30 schools, while more than 50 children and youth in vulnerable situations received school kits and uniforms to help them remain in school and continue learning.

A major milestone this year has been the strengthening of our Tutoring Scholarship Program through an alliance with Fundación Terra. The partnership benefits 375 students in 14 schools with the support of 75 trained tutors who provide academic assistance in Spanish and mathematics. Tutors received educational materials and participated in training sessions alongside teachers and families, creating a collaborative approach that helps children improve their academic performance and build confidence in the classroom.

Creating safe and healthy learning environments has also remained a priority. At the José Trinidad Reyes Basic Education Center, nearly 100 students returned to a refurbished and freshly painted school, thanks to the support of community members and partners. In Choluteca, a new sanitation module was inaugurated at the Francisco Morazán Basic Education Center, improving hygiene conditions for more than 760 students. Additionally, nutritional monitoring activities reached over 2,000 preschool and elementary students in 28 schools, helping identify potential risks early and supporting children's overall well-being and ability to learn.

Beyond the classroom, we completed the 2026 Community Multidimensional Poverty Index Survey in 18 communities, reaching more than 2,500 households. The information collected on education, health, housing, water, sanitation, and employment will help guide future investments and ensure that programs respond to the real needs of children and families. Thank you for helping us create stronger schools, healthier learning environments, and brighter futures for children throughout southern Honduras.
