Our Sponsorship Program will finance 40 scholarships for high-achieving students from low-income families, in our flagship school Panajachel Colegio Internacional. This project will provide our students with one-year scholarships, technology tools/resources, and school supplies for this school year.
Close to half the population of Guatemala lives below the poverty line, and many cannot afford to send their children to school past 6th grade when schooling is no longer free. This is especially true for our indigenous Maya communities who see far lower rates of secondary education. This project will impact the lives of 40 students in the Solola, Department of Guatemala by providing them with tuition to attend Panajachel Colegio Internacional and to buy materials for their education.
ACEI provides scholarships, school supplies, and access to technology to students in the Solola, Department of Guatemala. Panajachel Colegio Internacional provides our students with an education that builds community empowerment through project-based learning and community involvement.
This project will provide quality education to 40 students from low-income families, allowing them to break the poverty cycle by attaining higher education and higher-paying jobs. The students graduate believing in the importance of supporting and raising the voices of marginalized communities and bringing together a culturally diverse population for the common good and prosperity of the Lake Atitlan region.
