I found myself at YCM

I found myself at YCM

My name is Asep. I am a 17 years old and I have 9 siblings (4 brothers and 5 sisters).  I was born in Bogor; my father has no job for couple of years until now as he is weak and often falls sick. My mother is the only one who earns money to support our family by selling cooked food in a garment factory nearby to our home. My older siblings (4 sisters and 2 brothers) are already married and some of them still live together with us. Since my older siblings have their own families and their families income also not much, they hardly to help my mother to lighten her burden.

There are four children of my parents who are still studying at school (or supposed to study), my older brothers and I are in senior high school level, and my younger brother is in junior high school. Since I know how difficult and the burden that my mother has to carry on her shoulder, I decided to quit from school and looking for a job.  I cannot stand to see my mother as the only person who supports our family and I know how tiring and heavy her burden is. I want to help her and learn to be an independent one. Unfortunately I do not know what kind of work that I can do, with all limitation I have and without skill or knowledge.

Since I joining YCM, I get a chance to involve in an internship program of graphic design and chosen as a youth leader. I earn pocket money and save the money, as I have a goal to continue my study in a package school, luckily I also get a scholarship to continue my study so I can give my pocket money to my mother, so it will help to lighten her burden.

Before I come to YCM, I was a timid person, bad communicator, and an introvert person. At the time I heard about YCM from my friends. I was curious to come to YCM and I decided to join with YCM. At the first time I came to YCM, I felt a different atmosphere, friendly people and I was so happy at the time. In YCM I have learned many things. YCM has helped me to build my confidence, communication and values of life. I found myself now and I figure out my passion and talent at YCM, life goes on and I have to be able to help my family to cut the cycle of my family’s poverty that’s my biggest goal now. Thank you for YCM, all donators and global giving who give me a chance to change my life and to keep my passion to reach my goal!
