Savings Groups are Saving Generations!

Julia's chicken coop in the making! She's so proud
Julia's chicken coop in the making! She's so proud

Thank you KTD196 Community you are amazing! Thank you for your amazing support! Together we are changing lives for generations to come. Today I want to introduce you to Julia, for those who have been with us for over 6years will have previously met Lulama, Julia's child who sadly succumbed to Tuberculosis at a young age, she was one of our most passionate scouts and has left a lasting impact on KTD196 and all who knew her.

Julia is a dedicated mother and grandmother who lost her husband about 10yrs ago, since then she has persevered as a foreign national despite all the viciousness of this land towards foreigners. She has persevered against poverty, sickness, crime, and hopelessness. Now she has true hope to become a business owner through the SHG Approach you are supporting.

I have put her story up on our YouTube channel with the link below. It is in language but the translation is in the text below. Sadly, the wind was an issue that day and we do not have professional equipment but as you can see her home is pretty rough and as stated a few reports ago I feel her Chicken House is built far better however everything is a process and I am sure a new home will be on her list once her business is thriving.

Now for a personal note, I want to apologize in advance, I will be on extended sick leave for the next 6 weeks. I will endeavor to send out reports and thank yous to all who donate but if there is a delay please understand, that the delay is not by choice but circumstance and it is not a reflection on your gift. I have other staff that could do this task but I take your support so seriously I don't want to just hand it over. Another issue is that they are all at camp with +/- 150kids going through the program over the next 3weeks with no internet access.

Thank you so much for your support of the program but also of myself.

Blessings

Louise

My name is Julia. I am from Myakayaka Village; I have been staying in this village from 1988 with my family of five children and one grandchild. We ran away from Mozambique because of the war. Things were very difficult, at that time I was working in different farms, big trucks used to transport us from our places to farms to work.

At first I was renting, I didn’t have my own place to stay with my family until I managed to find myself stand to build a small house for me and my children because my husband past away living me to take care of all my children’s needs.

I know KTD196 from when my child was part of scouts.

Life of struggle was hard, one day KTD196, came to our village with SHG Trainings on how we can save money from little as R2.00 and how we can manage to start our own business from our savings. We are very grateful to this opportunity of empowering women financially and giving us security for the future. We named our group (PFUXANANI) which means RISE TOGETHER.

We believe we are rising together as women in support of our families, with the change of mind- set that we have now we are ready for change and more skills to better our lives we are going to achieve more for better future. Thank you very much for your support.

With the help of your support I believe my dream to build a better house for my children and have healthy environment to stay in is my focus, and looking into how to grow and strengthen our savings and contributions.

We believe in this development in our lives and we shall forever cherish the idea to save and grow and live with what you have. Thank you very much once more again.

God bless you

Julia
