YRTTF's enrichment program is designed to empower and prepare youth to a successful work path in career development and life skills. Our workshops and mentorship provide youth with opportunities to gain work and volunteer experience, while learning the skills to be great leaders for their community. By introducing these skills early on, youth have a greater chance of success by building confidence, learning responsibility, and preventing poverty and homelessness in Los Angeles.
In Los Angeles, about one in every five 16-24 year olds were disconnected from school and work due to economic or family issues. These are the most common causes of a child or youth becoming homeless in their future. Youth often lack resources for career preparedness and mentorships and are often stigmatized for using services.
You Run This Town Foundation exposes hundreds of youth to career and life skills to help better their pathway to success. We offer opportunities for a paid internship grant, community service, mentoring, academic support, and career development. By providing these resources, we are tackling issues of homelessness and delinquency.
The long-term impact is to help youth not only with short term issues they face, but also longer term in educational, career and employment prospects. As a participant in the program, we are exposing youth to future opportunities, engagement in their community, and empowerment to be bright and resilient leaders to one day Run This Town.
