In Taiwan, there are about 1.2 million physically and mentally disabled people, of which about 200,000 are disabled people who rely on others to take care of them due to physical limitations or deterioration. More than 60% of the disabled are taken care of by their family members, and on average, they need to be cared for continuously for seven years. As life expectancy increases, the physically and mentally disabled are also gradually aging.
According to the survey "Living Needs of the Physically and Mentally Disabled" in 2021 from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, 56.89% of the disabled are unable to take care of themselves independently, an increase of nearly 14 percentage points from 42.93% as compared to 2011. This has shown that the disabled and their caregivers are facing the phenomenon of double aging.
Eden has committed to enhancing the quality of life for the physically and mentally disabled, whether in-home care or institutionalized care, to enable them to maintain a dignified and good quality of life in their old age in a familiar community. In addition to providing nutritional and health care, we also provide comprehensive services and activities such as recreation, physical fitness, education, and socialization.
Through the support and care of professionals, we are devoted to alleviating the burden of family caregivers, so that they can have a respite from the non-stop demand for care and even return to the workplace to improve the financial situation of their families.
