Challenge

The lives of women and girls continue to be subject to restrictions and abuses because of their gender. The social gender gap in Yemen is reinforced by systemic and institutional discrimination. Women and girls of all ages, and from different social or cultural backgrounds or origins, face the risk of violence, marginalization and discrimination on a daily basis. The situation is further exacerbated for members of minorities, displaced persons, and female-headed families.

Solution

The project "Empowering and protecting war-affected women and girls in Yemen while protecting them from sexual exploitation and abuse" will promote self-reliance for displaced and at-risk women in conflict-affected areas through livelihood and protection interventions. The project supports women's access to livelihoods and protection from all forms of violence, including sexual exploitation and abuse, while empowering them to be agents of change and decision-makers in the context of the current.

Long-Term Impact

The long-term impact of this project is to create a sustainable and resilient environment for women and girls in Yemen. By providing them with the tools and resources needed to become self-reliant, the project aims to empower them to take control of their lives and become agents of change in their communities. This will not only help them overcome the challenges they face daily, but will also enable them to contribute to the development of their country. The project also aims to raise awareness.
