Challenge

The lives of women and girls continue to be subject to restrictions and abuses because of their gender. The social gender gap in Yemen is reinforced by systemic and institutional discrimination. Women and girls of all ages, and from different social or cultural backgrounds or origins, face the risk of violence, marginalization and discrimination on a daily basis. The situation is further exacerbated for members of minorities, displaced persons, and female-headed families.

Solution

The project "Empowering and protecting war-affected women and girls in Yemen while protecting them from sexual exploitation and abuse" will promote self-reliance for displaced and at-risk women in conflict-affected areas through livelihood and protection interventions.
