On World Poetry Day, students like Blessing will finally find a voice. Through poetry clubs and school showcases, this project will help secondary school students in Karu Local government express their dreams, fears, and hopes using words instead of silence. By nurturing creativity and confidence, we turn classrooms into safe spaces where young voices are heard and valued.
Many secondary students struggle to express themselves due to academic pressure, low confidence, and limited creative outlets. In under-resourced schools, arts education is often neglected, leaving students without tools to communicate emotions or build self-esteem. This silence affects learning, mental wellbeing, and future potential.
We will celebrate World Poetry Day by organizing poetry workshops, school clubs, and performance events led by educators and local writers. Students learn creative writing, public speaking, and storytelling, building confidence, empathy, and critical thinking while discovering the power of their own voices.
Our long-term goal is to build confident and expressive young people who use creativity to shape their futures. We aim to integrate poetry and creative arts into school culture, nurture young talents, and foster a generation that communicates thoughtfully, embraces diversity, and leads with empathy.
