The GRACE Teen Ambassador program is designed to empower teens though community service and leadership. This goal is achieved through instilling leadership skills by giving our ambassadors active roles in our human trafficking prevention centered projects. Each project is designed to assist in eradicating the vulnerabilities associated with human trafficking - poverty and illiteracy. Our areas of focus are educational, wellness, and nutritional support.
Millen, Georgia is a small community with a high poverty percentage. Many adults, teens, and children are facing hunger and lack of necessities (including personal hygiene items). With a total county population of less than 9,000, the current poverty rate is 28%.
This project will help eliminate the gap in resources to these individuals. If a person who is looking for a job can be given clean, professional clothing it may make a difference in their family's life. If we can provide canned goods to a family who's struggling, it could make a difference in their child's life. It also helps eliminate the things that make them vulnerable.
The long-term effect has been measured at our other GRACE centers (specifically in Thailand as this is our first US center). We have seen the lives of families changed because parents were able to get a job, because they didn't have to worry about if they could feel their kids for a while, and because they had a extra bit of help (if even for a short time). The goal is to provide the families with a little support so that they can improve their situation and better their lives. A
