Empowering the Girl Child through Education

Dear Donor and GlobalGiving,

The Global Giving Foundation has really helped by closing gaps that hinders girls’ education and socio-economic status. The plaform created by them (GlobalGiving) has helped a lot. The fund received, recently supports 43 children and 3 teachers in different ways. The other supporters funds were used in addition to GlobalGiving Foundation on field events, community engagements, school visits, provided 34 uniforms, 45 packets of books, etc

Funds provided were used to gain the following results below:

• Empowered girls dramatically continue to improve their wellbeing and their communities.
• Girl-children are empowered with voices to avoid child marriage, teenage pregnancy and to go to school  
• Contributed improved health and nutrition, and increases the chances of education for the next generation.
• Continuing Awareness raising involving girls and boys, against child marriage, teenage pregnancy, girl-child labour in homes and farm and FGM in schools and communities.
• Community dialogue meetings and focus group discussion with parents and general stakeholders including the government’s social welfare ministry to end child marriage, poor parenting, discrimination, neglect, stigmatization, continues in 15 communities.
• So far, more communities have been identified with huge number of girls that really needs our timely intervention, considering the fact that new communities identified with the messages of SDGs on No One Should Be Left Behind. We are calling on our donors to continue their supports and which will enable us achieve these results together.

More support will enable the TNT Scholarship Fund to continue to support and provide basic needs for needy girls to access basic education and be agents of change to end child, early and forceful marriages, illiteracy, child poverty and traditional harmful practices; and to returns to schools, to champion their future progress and development.

The donations received from GlobalGiving Foundation help empowering the girl child through education. As education is the key to success. The Needy Today continues to identify girl-children who are experiencing complex marginalisation to access education, engaged and ensured that their voices are heard and also improve their lives. Also, we continue to engage the community about empowering the girl child and also changing their mindset about them. The GlobalGiving Foundations has really helped by closing gaps that hinders girls’ education and socio-economic status. This fund has supported 106 children and 6 teachers in different ways.

 Funds provided were used to gain the following results below:

• Empowered girls continue to improve their wellbeing and their communities.
• So far, 50 girls supported with uniforms, study fees and learning materials in Mathinka Village Bombali district in primary and secondary education.
• Girl-children are empowered with voices to avoid child marriage and teenage pregnancy  
• Contributed to improved health and nutrition, and increases the chances of education for the next generation.
• Engaging the communities using the girl children through drama play
• Continuing Awareness raising involving girls and boys, against child marriage, teenage pregnancy, girl-child labour in homes and farm and FGM in schools and communities.
• The Needy Today establishes community base volunteers to monitor these girl children against early child marriages.
• Community dialogue meetings and focus group discussion with community people and stakeholders including the government’s social welfare ministry to end child marriage, poor parenting, discrimination, neglect, stigmatization, continues in 20 communities.

 Furthermore, the success we have achieved within this period belongs to our donors, they are the ones who made this happen. More needs to be done as there are many girls out here who have drop out of school for many reasons. We cannot help these kids all alone but with your continued support we can achieve this together.
