This initiative aims to tackle the persistent issue of stunting in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas like Central Kalimantan. Stunting greatly affects the health and development of children, and currently 1 in 4 children in Indonesia is stunted. With your support, our holistic approach focusing on community leaders engagement, monitoring of pregnant mothers, and public awareness will provide tools to prevent stunting to more than 2,500 families, mostly living in poverty.
Stunting is a complex challenge with far-reaching consequences. Central Kalimantan is one of the provinces in Indonesia with the highest stunting prevalence, reaching 26.9% of children. While we have had success in the past in our working area of Bukit Batu, other neighboring areas have yet to receive adequate actions to prevent stunting, despite efforts by the government and other stakeholders.
Our experience in Bukit Batu has highlighted the importance of empowering women to become leaders in stunting prevention. Trained community leaders can significantly decrease stunting rates by disseminating knowledge and monitoring pregnant women during pregnancy. This project will work with 65 women community leaders, targeting 1,050 mothers who will implement stunting prevention measures during the first 1000 days of life and will reach 1,450 community members through the educational campaign.
By focusing on stunting prevention, we are investing in the future of Indonesia. Healthy children are more likely to break the cycle of poverty, excel in education, and contribute positively to their communities. Our experience in stunting prevention projects have consistently demonstrated that empowered community leaders can create lasting change. Your support will enable us to continue our mission of combating stunting and ensuring a brighter future for children in Central Kalimantan.
