A mother's journey to ensure her baby's good health

By Uttama Pranaya | Fundraising & Communications

Dear friends,

It has been several months since the earthquake hit. As the earthquake affected people indiscriminately, many pregnant mothers and babies were displaced in the process. Thankfully, with the immense support from the government and various generous donations, the people in Cipanas (West Java) are on the road to recovery.

As the community is rebuilding their homes, our work in stunting prevention must continue to ensure pregnant women, especially those who are displaced, have a healthy pregnancy.

One of them is Ibu S, who we met with recently. When we first met Ibu S, she was 4-months pregnant with her third child. Read as she shares her experience in joining the stunting prevention program:

“During my pregnancy with my third child, I’m grateful to be able to join the stunting prevention program. I feel a significant difference throughout the pregnancy as I was more fit and healthy compared to my previous two pregnancies thanks to the nutritional packages I receive. Also, I felt that my son was already so active even when he was still in the womb! Even now at 2-months old, I notice that he is very active, healthy and has ideal weight for his age.

Moreover, the nutritional packages supported me in more ways than I can imagine. Usually, we could not afford to buy milk so I never consume it for my pregnancy. With the nutritional packages, I could get all the nutrients I need for a healthy pregnancy. The hemoglobin level checks were also something I appreciate very much as they were provided for free—I usually have to pay for hemoglobin checks with the midwife.”

Thanks to you, many pregnant women, just like Ibu S, have greatly benefited from your support of the stunting prevention program.

NB: If you can, we would appreciate it if you could set up a monthly donation through GlobalGiving as this provides us with  a sustainable source of funds. New monthly donations (up to $200 per unique donor) will have their first donation matched at 100% after four (4) total payments.
