Dear friends,

Summer is coming to an end, and we hope you were able to have some time off to spend with your family and friends!

On our side, our women volunteer health workers (or “kader” in Bahasa indonesia) have been keeping busy and are still fully committed in their aim to support families and especially pregnant women to deliver healthy babies. In a remote area like Bukit Batu in Central Kalimantan, information is not as readily available as in big cities. The six villages in the sub-district are far apart and reaching out to all the inhabitants is not an easy task.

Because of this, YUM together with around 15 kader have created various tools to help spread the awareness around stunting prevention and nutrition. As part of their campaign resources, an educational booklet was created with the aim of providing understanding and guidance on what is stunting and what can be done to prevent it. It includes important nutritional information according to the available foods most consumed by the local families and other healthy habits related to stunting prevention and good health in general for babies, children and pregnant mothers.

Other resources include an educational leaflet on stunting prevention and a recipe book with the aim of supporting and motivating the community to be more enthusiastic in providing a diet with good nutrition, so that children can grow healthy and optimally. It contains recipes for healthy food for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, as well as complementary foods for children aged 6-24 months and these recipes are based on easily available, nutritious and economic ingredients that can help prevent stunting.

These resources would not have been able to see the day if not for your continuous support of this project! Thank you for your continued generosity!

Warmly,

Vanessa
