Empowerment of Dalit Women in India

Through this initiative, Dalit Solidarity continues to support women from marginalized communities in Tamil Nadu in building confidence, financial independence, and collective strength. During this quarter, women participated in Self-Help Group (SHG) activities that encouraged regular savings, mutual support, and greater awareness of financial management. Group meetings provided a platform for women to discuss their household needs, share experiences, explore livelihood opportunities, and learn about accessing financial services and government welfare schemes. These collective efforts help women develop leadership skills, strengthen their decision-making abilities, and take an active role in improving the well-being of their families.

The SHG activities also foster solidarity among women, enabling them to address common challenges and work toward sustainable economic opportunities. By encouraging savings habits, responsible financial planning, and cooperation, the groups help women build resilience against financial difficulties and reduce their dependence on informal borrowing. Dalit Solidarity remains committed to creating opportunities for Dalit women to participate confidently in community life, pursue livelihood initiatives, and advocate for their rights and dignity.
