As we conclude 2021, this project has continued to draw support from generous supporters in the community and on the Board of Directors. In many respects, 2021 marked the passage to a new stage in the project. This without losing its focus on the forest’s function as an outdoor environmental classroom and an educational resource -- on line and on site. The tour app, inaugurated this year, continues to be used by many visitors to the Forest and continues to receive positive reviews in our social media.
The complete revamping of our bilingual website for the first time in 3 years has been concluded and, while the “new” site has been up and running since November, we consider it a “beta” version while we tweak the content and appearance, make sure that the information is totally correct and up-to-date, in standard English and Spanish and, of great import, easy to use, attractive, informative and educational.
The social media presence, previously limited to Facebook and Twitter, is now more encompassing with a new and growing presence on Instagram and on YouTube. In the case of YouTube, we created our first “drone-based” video of the Forest, which was used in connection with our GivingTuesday 2021 microproject. Video material not used in that project will be used over the next several months as part of our presentation on social media.
Our posts, primarily viewed on Facebook, are minimally twice a week and content is new or updated from our pre-pandemic “Sabía usted que..” / “Did you know…” series. Today we have over 4,000 followers on Facebook, and our following on Instagram and other social media --particularly YouTube and the more colorful and increasingly popular Instagram -- is expected to grow significantly in 2022.
All of these undertakings are a result, directly and indirectly, of your support for the Enable an Encounter with a Rare Pterocarpus Forest project.
Thank you. With our best wishes for the holiday season and a great New Year!
