End children chronical kidney disease in Poncitlan

Summary

This project will support the weekly delivery of a nutritional complement, designed specifically by ONI to provide the nutrients necessary for children to develop correctly and fight kidney disease. Also ONI will carry out educational activities for entire families, in order to create better alimentary habits. According to the University of Guadalajara, 47% of the children in Poncitlan suffer from kidney disease, and one of the most succesfull strategies is developing healthier diets and habits.

Challenge

According to a study made by the University of Guadalajara 47% of children in Poncitlan suffer of kidney disease. This is generated due to the contamination of the Chapala Lake and its closeness to the population. The people from Poncitlan use this water for cleaning and sometimes consuming, which generate other diseases in the community. This problematic is potenzialised by the poor alimentary habits in the community that generated poor inmune systems around the community, specially to children

Solution

Through providing an alimentary complement that has all the micro and macronutrients needed for children to develop correctly, we will develop a more nourished generation of children, which will help them develop a correct inmune system, in order to prevent and end with chronical kidney disease. By applying our educational program we will impact broadly on the alimentary habits of the community by generating a comunal knowledge where everybody undrestand the importance of proper alimentation.

Long-Term Impact

ONI wants to create the first generation of children in Poncitlan without chronical kidney disease. This is going to be achieved by the constant delivery of our nutritional complement to the children of the community, and the personal follow up carried out by ONI specialized teams. By providing a source of nutritious food ONI wants to create a more nourished and healthy community. Through our educational program we will make a gradual change on the alimentary habits of the whole community.
