This time we’d like to tell you about our educational program in Poncitlan, and how it helped Kevin and his family.
Kevin is an almost 5-year-old boy, we met him when he was 3. He started consuming ONIformula made of chickpea to prevent a low nutrient intake, which is related to food insecurity in Agua Caliente, Poncitlan.
His family was heavily involved in the programs and in this way Kevin improved his nutritional health. Due to the efforts shown each passing month during the educational program, little by little they started implementing new habits that bettered their health and nutrition.
Kevin punctually attended the follow-up sessions of coconut ONIformula during 3 months, a period in which we evaluated the acceptance rate of this new product, which lasted from April to June in 2023. The results were positive when consuming the new vegan ONIformula, since Kevin’s hemoglobin levels and height remained stable; however, for a boy his age his height is still considered low, but those are the usual anthropometric traits of Poncitlan population.
Kevin is currently active in ONI’s program; he still drinks the 3rd stage chickpea ONIformula, while maintaining a proper nutritional state for his age. He’s very smiley and we are so glad we were able to witness his health boost and help his family too.
