Summary

This project will provide free prompt malaria diagnosis and treatment, give a nutrition specific interventions to 1000 poor economic background children in 2 years, in Itamerin and neighboring communities, Akinyele local government Oyo state. Also, help early diagnosis and treatment of Hypertension in women within the location.

Challenge

Malaria kills 30 Nigerian children every hour, the spate of malnutrition worsens. Rural dwellers are the worst hit because of poor or lack of access to quality health care. Itamerin in Akinyele local government area is populated with the economically disadvantaged, who could neither afford the high cost of malaria treatment nor able to provide a nourishing diet for cognitive development of the children. This project seeks to save up to 1000 children within the geographical location.

Solution

This project will provide a nourishing breakfast, deworming pills, mutivitamin supplements, early detection and treatment of malaria, Hypertension and implementing actions which integrate the communities as key players in both sensitization, prevention and treatment of malaria, malnutrition and hypertension in a project tagged "MaMaH".

Long-Term Impact

MaMaH project will reduce mortality, poverty level and improve life quality as parents will not need to spend on malaria treatment or malnutrition. There will also be an increased knowledge of parents on prevention of malaria and correct nutritional practices. Over 1000 children's cognitive functions and physical development, and life quality will be improved to facilitate effective learning as does their urban counterparts.
