Dear Donors,

waiting for the next monitoring trip of July, we would like to update all of you about the development of the project and the next steps that will be followed.

As anticipated, our local partner – Balou Center – hosts and takes care of young people with different disabilities and it has started a new collaboration with the University of Lubumbashi, in particular with the Superior Institute of Medical Techniques (ISTM Zawadi). With the purpose of expanding the educational offering of the University, the partners have established specialized courses dedicated to expert caregivers of people with disabilities (mental health and psychiatric care, speech therapy, kinesiotherapy, psychomotricity, general care and obstetrics).

During this academic year, university students have become numerous and they had the opportunity to attend different courses in Balou Center. Due to the number of enrolled students and to the specific necessities correlated to the curricula, some parts of the structure of the center have to be restructured. With this report Aleimar wants to share with all of you pictures about the renovations and how one part of the center will look like at the end of the refurbishment. We will keep you updated about the development of the structure and by now we want to share some pictures of the students that has attended this academic year.

A part from the structural works, all the activities inside the center are going on. For example, you can see attached photos that show an autistic boy hosted in the center building a cart using wheels of aa wheelchair. These activities are fundamental because can make Any help, small or big, can generate a real positive change in the life of the young people with disabilities that live in the center!

So thank you for all your precious support!
