A Call for Change: Stand by Balou

Dear friends,

The project at the Balou Center in Lubumbashi continues to give hope to 200 children with physical and/or mental disabilities by offering them medical care, education, and a safe environment. However, the situation remains complex: in a country where 62% of the population lives below the poverty line, children with disabilities are even more vulnerable, often marginalized by society and deprived of fundamental rights.

At the moment, the Balou Center faces a severe shortage of qualified medical personnel: there are only two nurses and a psychiatrist to follow 200 children with different disabilities. This lack of resources makes it difficult to ensure the necessary care, especially for those children with neurological and psychological problems, who require continuous support. Unfortunately, disability is seen by many as a curse, and the Center is the only refuge for these children in a society that is not yet ready to welcome them.

In addition, another urgent need of the center concerns the supply of wheelchairs. Many children cannot walk independently, and the lack of mobility devices limits their ability to participate in daily activities, social interactions, and educational opportunities. Having a wheelchair could mean the freedom to move, socialize and feel part of a community.

The Balou Center represents a unique source of hope for these children, but to ensure them a better future, it is essential to continue to support the project with resources and donations. Without your help, many of these children risk being excluded from a life of dignity.

Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference. With your support, these children will have the chance to overcome daily obstacles and look to the future with hope.

Thank you very much for your continued support
