The activities of the Youth Advocates
In August 2024, our Advocacy Program focused on empowering and moilizing youth advocates and working with local authorities to promote child protection.
Four batches of training were conducted. The workshop emphasized the effective facilitation and management of challenging audience. Participants received feedbacks on their presentation skills and developed mentorship, pairing senior advocates with juniors.
Equipped with new skills, the youth advocates led awareness campaigns on critical topics like reproductive health. The Advocacy team also strenghtened partnerships with the stakeholders.
These workshops enabled the young people in turn to raise awareness among the general public and other young people.
In September, they had the opportunity to speak at several conferences and events:
A total of 871 students and 20 teachers attended the orientation at Tigbauan National High School. The goal was to increase awareness of the escalating risks children encounter online and to educate them on how to recognize and prevent online abuse.
The senior Youth advocates and the advocacy employee of CAMELEON participated to the 3rd National Conference for Family Planning - Youth Conference 2024. The conference highlighted the community-based family planning programs, involved and initiated by the youth, explored innovative technologies.
On September 2024 held the Multidisciplinary Training Package on Violence and HIV Training of Trainers, organized by the International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (Philippines). One of the objectives of this training was to build a pool of trainers capable of delivering the package throughout the region. The Key topics were Using Child Rights in Service Delivery; Adolescents and Youth Friendly Services; Trauma-informed Care; Identifying and Responding to Violence; and Helping the Helpers.
The next objectives of our youth advocates are to create awareness campaigns, recruit new youth advocates and continue our monthly training sessions!
