The Interact-ALL Assistive Gameboard turns learning Kenyan Sign Language into play. Children explore fingerspelling, letter sequencing, and word building while learning together with peers. This early exposure strengthens communication, boosts confidence, and improves academic and social development for deaf learners. The companion mobile app reinforces skills through fun digital practice, letting every child learn anytime, anywhere-and at their own pace, so no learner is left behind.
Most deaf children in Kenya don't learn their first language at home and must wait until school to access sign language-delaying communication, learning, and social development. With 90% of 200,000 deaf children lacking early sign language exposure, many enter school already behind. Early access to sign language is essential to unlock learning, confidence, and equal opportunities from the very start.
By introducing Kenyan Sign Language early through play, this project builds strong communication and literacy foundations for deaf and hard-of-hearing children. Learners develop handshapes, sequencing, and word formation while strengthening fine-motor skills. The fun, inclusive approach supports early reading, boosts confidence, and helps every child learn alongside peers-creating a scalable pathway for lifelong learning and success.
In the long term, this project strengthens early literacy, communication, and digital skills for over 5,000 deaf children. By making KSL fun and accessible, learners gain confidence, build stronger relationships with peers and adults, and achieve better academic outcomes. Visual learning closes communication gaps at school and home, creating more inclusive classrooms and brighter futures.
