The project aims to equip young women and men age 15 - 35 years with the skills and knowledge they need to access jobs, start and grow business, access financial services, and diversify the economic opportunities that are available by creating opportunities for youth employment This project will enroll 100 learners in non-formal BTVET short courses, provision of business start up kits, start up capital and mentoring for 100 youth who have complete BTVET trade courses
Unemployment rates among the 18-30 years remain high. A result study by ILO puts youth unemployment in Uganda at 83%. The world bank in its 2008 report said Uganda had the highest youth unemployment rate. Most recent studies have shown the issues which continue to plague the youth include the following High level of poverty, low educational achievement and technical skills ,high unemployment rates, poor health and HIV/AIDS and lack of leadership training and limited participation in Government
The project will enroll 100 learners in non-formal BTVET short courses, support Light rehabilitation of 6 BTVET centers, provision of learning and training materials. Produce 20 radio programmes in local languages based on a social and behavior change strategy, 20 Youth participate Massive Open Online Course, Link 100 BTVET trainees with 25 local private businesses for on-the-job training through apprenticeships, provision of business start up kits, startup capital and mentoring for youth
The project will educate 100 women and men allowing them to rise out of poverty,have access to high quality BTVET opportunities and Increased number of sustainable businesses and income-generating activities, which will provide for their famillies health and well-being
