Childcare learning center in June

By Nuri Park | Intern

Hello, this is Nuri Park from Peace Winds Korea.

I would like to share the story of June in the childcare learning center in Bagong Silangan, the Philippines.

"Taking the final exam"

On May 30th, the children in the childcare learning center took their final exams for graduation. This comprehensive assessment evaluated their knowledge of alphabets, colors, lines, numbers, and more. The exams were conducted in two forms: a writing evaluation and an oral evaluation, with parents observing from behind. The children felt a bit nervous during the oral evaluation.

However, thanks to their dedicated studies at the childcare learning center, all the children passed their exams successfully. This achievement is a testament to the exceptional teaching skills of our veteran teacher.

"Preparation for three days and the long-awaited graduation ceremony"

After the final exams, the teacher discussed with the mothers how to organize the graduation ceremony. They decided that the children would wear togas (Philippine graduation gowns), although it required some additional expenses. Fortunately, there was some remaining budget in the childcare learning center, which helped alleviate the burden on the mothers.

Then, they dedicated three days to practice for the graduation ceremony!

The children, who had shown remarkable growth throughout the year, performed even better than the teacher had expected. It must have been a challenging process, but they did an amazing job.

The graduation ceremony was held jointly with children from other center, which is why you see many children in the photos.

We are delighted to hear the news of their successful graduation after a year of dedicated learning. Peace Winds Korea will remain committed to supporting the childcare learning center, bringing the joy of learning to many more children in the future!

Although the center will take a break now that the children have graduated, our beloved teacher started recruiting new children! We hope many children will join the childcare learning center.

"Introducing the child of June!"

Sembie (alias) is the only 6-year-old in the childcare learning center. The center offers a nursery class (for children under 4) and a K1 class (for 5-year-olds). Typically, 6-year-old children attend a preparatory school.

However, Sembie refused to go there and insisted on attending the childcare learning center. Sembie's mother couldn't resist the child's persistence, so she took Sembie's hand and came to the center. Recognizing Sembie's determination, the teacher gladly helped them enroll in the center.

Initially, Sembie found it challenging to greet other children, but soon adapted and became a curious and talkative individual, asking about everything. The teacher was impressed by how well Sembie adapted and successfully graduated.

Moreover, Sembie has exceptional organizational skills. After class, while other children usually rush home, Sembie always takes the time to thoroughly tidy up her seat. The teacher finds this aspect of Sembie adorable.

Sembie also graduated successfully this time. Please join us in supporting Sembie's future growth.

"Teacher's words for June!"

"As a teacher in the childcare learning center, it brings me great joy to witness the growth of the children. Especially when I see the parents' faces light up with smiles as they watch their children write and read independently, I feel proud and reflect on the memories I have created with these children. Such moments are evidence that despite the poor conditions of the childcare learning center, it is running effectively and the children are thriving.

As my role as their teacher ends, the children's gratitude has touched me deeply. They have played a vital part in my personal growth, making me stronger. I will forever cherish the memories and lessons learned from them.

Thank you for reading!

Nuri Park.
