With a population of 55 million people, Tanzania has only one cardiac hospital, Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) located in Dar es Salaam and staffed to treat only 400 children a year. The New BMH (Benjamin Mkapa Hospital) in Dodoma has been dedicated with a wing for the cardiac facility to assist. This project aims to equip 2 empty cardiac theatres at BMH to facilitate the provision of free pediatrics cardiac treatments to the Tanzanian children in need.
Each year 13,600 Tanzanian children are born with congenital and rheumatic heart diseases and 3,400 children need to be treated with cardiac surgery. With a population of 55 million people, Tanzania has only one cardiac hospital, Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) located in Dar es Salaam and staffed to treat only 400 children a year. As a result of poor facilities, many Tanzanian children are in a dire need of cardiac treatments.
1. Free Pediatrics cardiac screening and Cath Lab intervention procedure to identify cases. 2. Provision of free Pediatric cardiac life-saving heart surgeries for the children (especially from underserved regions). 3. Initial Pediatrics clinics and follow-up care. 4. To provide capacity building for local teams once the camp is hosted.

To build a Centre of excellent, improve knowledge and accessibility with the availability of pediatrics cardiac treatment. 3. Enhance capacity, skills, expertise, and network in referral Hospital in regard to congenital and rheumatic heart diseases
