The Liberian Vice President formally dedicated the newly completed Waterfield Primary Care Health Center in a special celebration and naming ceremony on August 12. National, Community, and Church Leaders, and community members gathered to tour the new facility and celebrate the new services coming to the Kakata Community. Thanks to a very generous donation from Kids Around The World, HWHL has a brand new playground for our children to enjoy, a big bonus for those participating in our after school reading program. Many other donations were recognized at the dedication, including $10 thousand to purchase the beds and bed side tables donated by the Margibi County Senator, who continues to be a generous supporter of HWHL.
At our Annual Meeting on November 21 one of our Liberian Board Members was nominated to serve as the next Board President. Nyamah, founder of SANKOFA Agribusiness based in Liberia, has a decade’s worth of highly technical and managerial experience networking and building partnerships with both private and public sector agencies in numerous in sub-Saharan Africa countries. She has mananged program development and staff in 10 countries across the Africa, including two successful national malaria program campaigns in Sierra Leone and several campaigns across the Democratic Republic of Congo, resulting in a significant grant award from the Global Fund for AIDS, TB, and Malaria. She served as the Senior Program Manager for Imagine No Malaria, a very successful $75 million health campaign of the United Methodist Relief and Development Agency (UMCOR). We believe that these combined experiences make her the perfect leader for HWHL to navigate the future for HWHL, bringing her expertise and valuable relationships with global organizations from western and southern countries. Nyamah has an International Master’s of Management degree from The Kedge Business School (formerly Euromed Management) in Marseille, France, and a B.A in English and French from Stetson University, Florida. She is a returned Peace Corps volunteer who served in Benin, West Africa.
