REPORT ON GLOBAL GIVING PROJECT
DECEMBER 2010
Dear Donors:
Thanks to the generosity from donors around the globe, we have raised (in just three months) 98% of the funds necessary to fully support our project of helping 832 women in Nepal dramatically improve their lives and start of their own businesses. Our women’s group members are hard at work and achieving great success.
ETC Nepal Executive Director, Mira Rana, reports that one key component to women's empowerment and self-sufficiency is the savings and credit education and training that Women's Group members receive through ETC. Thanks to donors like you, these women now have access to micro loans, enabling them to start businesses from tea shops to small farms. They also learn how to save and how to keep accurate records to ensure their own personal financial and business success as well as that of their fellow Women's Group members.
In the past year and with your support, the ETC's Women's Groups have made tremendous strides in their ability to save funds and start their own businesses. The total savings fund of the Women's Groups in Dolahka has grown to a record Rs 1,053,252 ($15,000) and women's group members generated over Rs 550, 000 (nearly $8,000) from livestock businesses and Rs 250,000 ($3,000) in poultry farming.
In the months ahead we will have lots more to report, as the impact of the funds raised this fall will be clearly demonstrated. We look forward to updating you on our progress and demonstrating how your support has made a world of difference. Please contact us at Educate the Children if you have additional questions or require more information. I can be reached directly at caitlin.wood@etc-nepal.org.
I wish you a joyous and peaceful 2011!
Sincerely,
Caitlin Wood
