We share with you a breathtaking story about a boy, Walter, who is each and every time challenging himself to overcome his fears. This by making a personal effort and thanks to the support of all his classmates.
Walter just turned nine years old. He is the youngest of five siblings and is in third grade. His weight and height is that of a six year-old kid. Besides, he has moderate anaemia, which he is controlling with medication provided by a health post. However, his biggest challenge is to improve his self-confidence. At the beginning of the year, when he was told to correct an exercise or to do it better, he started to cry incessantly. Furthermore, when he was called to do an exercise on the board his nervousness was clear: the marker fall out of his hands and he couldn’t stop holding them. Despite that, we all could perceive his continuous effort for doing an excellent job. Step by step, with the support of all the classroom, Walter is more confident when answering questions; when he is wrong, he corrects himself with self-assurance; and when he solves an exercise on the board he does his best. All of this has led him to reach a remarkable academic progress.
I remember the Principal of the school spoke with me regarding Walter’s progress. He told me that until last year Walter did not read at all. He was pleasantly surprised when he visited my classroom and had the opportunity to listen to Walter reading fluently and with confidence.
Thank you very much once again. We are very happy to have your support.
