Today, more than 1.5 billion boys and girls are out of class due to the COVID-19 contingency, of which 33 million are Mexican students. The crisis has put vulnerable children and youth at a great disadvantage, and what happens in a country where more than half of the population is in poverty? Inequality prevents confinement from being the safe alternative for thousands of Mexican boys and girls. For many students, staying home is equivalent to being alone, putting grandparents who care for them at risk, stopping healthy eating, stopping learning and / or being more exposed to exploitation, abuse and violence.
The world, as we know it, is being interrupted by a global pandemic and therefore, the way to provide accompaniment and follow-up to educational communities. The opportunity lies in finding an alternative path to the classroom, it is time to live the aspirations of our new strategic plan: innovate and adapt our approach for the development of leaders and growth of students. With this in mind, we have adapted knowledge so that it does not stop.
Our PEM have continued with the learning and support processes for students through various platforms, they have also ensured that teachers continue learning by giving them fundamental tools on the use of technologies as well as the development of socio-emotional skills in themselves and in their students during these moments of crisis
Despite the immense educational challenges in Mexico, we know that another reality is possible. In Enseña por México (Teach For Mexico) we believe in a country where origin does not determine destiny. Every child is born with unlimited potential, where access to opportunities should not be limited by the socioeconomic conditions of their family, or the environment in which they grow up.
With your support, through this donation campaign, and through our different allies and partnerships we have been able to further the impact of the organization in 9 states with 250 active teaching fellows in more than 170 public schools impacting more than 30,000 girls, boys and youth today. Developing their academic and socio-emotional skills so that they can have the right tools and abilities to become agents of change of their own circumstances.
We are deeply grateful for your support!
