Pilot Kickoff

In May 2019, the pilot for Family Empowerment programme kickoff with the commencement of staff training.

Over a 2 week period, Wessex Social Ventures (WSV) trained all Kickstart Kids Staff on various aspects of running the Petals and Right Light micro- enterprises.

A few of the topics covered include:-

- Development of a business model canvass

- Sales and marketing

- Financial modelling

- Theory of change

- Monitoring and evaluation

- Report generation through the WSV app

A select number of staff also learnt practical sewing skills and produced the petals reusable towels.

Next Steps

An abridged version of the training will be rolled out to guardians identified to start the micro enterprises. An initial briefing was held and the guardians charged with doing market research in their respective locations prior to the main training in June.

Thereafter, the guardians will be assisted to commence business operations and provided with required support.
