Challenge

Siaya County with a total population of approximately 800,000 people has a very dynamic socioeconomic outlook. Lack of basic healthcare facilities is a case that has together with the underlying sanitary conditions and the fact that the main north corridor highway intersects through the county made the populace particularly susceptible to the HIV scourge which has in many cases whipped out whole families and in several cases rendered many school going children without a home or dependents!

Solution

OVCs remain a burden to extended families as most care givers live hand to mouth. Families who are stretched to care for their own children naturally find it almost impossible to take in an extra child or two. OVCs undergo severe difficulties such as lack of parenting, poor or no housing, no opportunity for education, insecurity, lack of guidance and counselling, moral decay and lack of awareness of the importance of God's mercy and grace. OVCs who miss opportunities for improving themselves.
