Farming help reduce poverty, raise incomes and improve food security for 80% of the world's poor, who live in rural areas and work mainly in farming.Agriculture impacts society in many ways, including: supporting livelihoods through food, habitat, and jobs.
Poverty is the greatest cause of hunger around the world - in both higher-wealth and low- to middle-income countries. Most people who are hungry live in extreme poverty, defined as income of $2.15 per day or less. The unequal distribution of income and lack of resources in developing countries means that millions of people simply cannot afford the land or farming supplies they need to grow, or otherwise gain access to nutritious food.
Many grain producers currently have more cash on hand than in the past. A phenomenal growing season last year, coupled with increasing prices for stored crops helped to create this cash influx. Many times when there is excess cash available, producers look for ways to use that cash to benefit them over the long run. Producers may be tempted to pay off some long-term debts or pay cash for large capital purchases.
Adopting irrigation would ensure food production throughout the year. Encouraging farmers to grow food crops that are drought resistant. Encouraging the growing of food crops instead of cash crops. Giving loans/credit facilities to farmers
