A new year has started at the Centro de Acolhida!
First and foremost, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every donor who has generously supported us throughout the past year. Without your unwavering kindness and support, our journey would not have been possible.
It was thanks to you that we succeeded in re-open the Centro de Acolhida this year, and more energised than ever!
This year, approximately 170 beneficiaries have joined us, divided into morning and afternoon sessions and further segmented into four age-based groups for each session.
We're thrilled to share some exciting updates with you. Our Centro de Acolhida has undergone a slight name change, transitioning from Centro de Acolhida Betania (CAB) to Centro de Acolhida Belo Horizonte (CABH). This adjustment reflects our commitment to inclusivity, as we now welcome children from all corners of our city, Belo Horizonte, not limited to the Betania district alone.
With the support of our local and international community, we've had the privilege of introducing seven new courses aimed at fostering the wellbeing and personal development of our children.
Here's the comprehensive list:
Ballet
Modern dance
Robotics
Circus arts
Recycling
Sport (football, volleyball and and gymnastics)
Music (percussions and guitar)
Our centre exist for welcoming children from vulnerable backgrounds, offering them two proper meals a day and giving them the chance to explore their talents, a chance they may not always have due to their circumstances.
One of this month's highlights has been the acquisition of six guitars, marking the start of our very own musical band! This achievement was made possible through a campaign supported by one-time donations and in-kind contributions from local benefactors.
Guided by our dedicated educators, we've launched a guitar course, setting the stage for our musical journey ahead.
What's next? Well, we're aiming to conquer the world with our music, of course!
Warm hugs from Belo Horizonte,
Gloria
