Starting from October 2023, the children and adolescents of the Centro de Acolhida have been able to take advantage of an art workshop created by Lisa, an Italian volunteer.
This laboratory had 3 main guidelines: to be an artist you don't have to know how to draw well, you don't need expensive materials to create museum-worthy works, works can have more than one author; art is often collaborative.
At the beginning the activities were mainly oriented by the knowledge of different art techniques, collage with waste material, stencils, tempera, learning to mix colors to create new ones…. But after these first activities the children immersed themselves in a role-playing game where they were transported to an alien planet where they had to learn about their new form, their habits and favorite foods.
The teenagers, on the other hand, revisited some legends of the Brazilian popular tradition, changing them and recreating mythical figures from folklore, such as the "mula sem cabeça”
All these works were eventually composed into an art exhibition that received many visits, including that of the Italian consul in Belo Horizonte.
Towards the discovery of new talents….
