Update on the progress report on

By Samuel Akaraonye | Founder/CEO

At the Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation (SOHF), we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, and dream without the burden of hunger. The Catch Them Young: Nourish Nigeria's Future Leaders initiative was created to address the growing challenge of child malnutrition and food insecurity affecting vulnerable children across Nigeria.

Across many communities, especially in underserved and rural areas, countless children go to school on empty stomachs. For them, learning becomes difficult, concentration fades, and their dreams slowly shrink under the weight of hunger. Through this project, we aim to change that narrative by ensuring that children receive nutritious meals that support their health, growth, and educational success.

Current Status of the Project

During this reporting period, the project team has continued planning, community engagement, and awareness activities in preparation for the full implementation of the program.

However, we would like to sincerely share with our supporters that no funds have yet been received for this project through the platform during this reporting period.

While this has slowed down the direct implementation of feeding activities, it has not diminished our commitment. Instead, we have used this period to strengthen the foundation of the project by:

  • Engaging with community stakeholders and local partners
  • Conducting preliminary needs assessments in target communities
  • Preparing logistics and operational plans for when funding becomes available
  • Raising awareness about the urgent need to support vulnerable children facing hunger

The reality in many Nigerian communities remains stark. Rising food prices, economic hardship, and insecurity continue to deepen food insecurity among families. For many children, a single nutritious meal can make the difference between hope and hardship.

This is why your support is more important now than ever.

Looking Ahead: The Little by Little Campaign

We are hopeful and excited about the upcoming Little by Little Campaign, which will take place March 17 – March 20. This special fundraising opportunity provides a powerful chance for supporters around the world to amplify their impact.

During this campaign, donations made through the platform may receive additional matching funds, meaning that every contribution can go even further in helping us nourish vulnerable children.

We warmly invite all our friends, partners, and supporters to join us during these dates. Even a small contribution can create a meaningful impact. As the campaign reminds us: little by little, we can build a future where no child learns on an empty stomach.

Gratitude to Our Supporters

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to every donor, supporter, and advocate who believes in the vision of this project. Your encouragement, shares, and words of support inspire us to keep pushing forward, even in challenging moments.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to GlobalGiving for providing a platform that connects grassroots organizations like ours with compassionate individuals and partners across the world. Their commitment to transparency, community impact, and sustainable development continues to empower organizations working tirelessly to uplift vulnerable populations.

Closing Reflection

The children we hope to serve are not just beneficiaries of a project; they are Nigeria's future leaders, innovators, teachers, doctors, and change-makers. When we nourish them today, we invest in a brighter tomorrow.

Though we are still awaiting the first wave of funding, our resolve remains strong. With your support and participation in the upcoming campaign, we are confident that this vision will soon become a reality.

Together, we can ensure that no child's potential is limited by hunger.

Thank you for standing with us.

With gratitude and hope,

Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation (SOHF)
