The project will supply the 700 single women who lost their properties during floods in Kasese with household equipment's and food items. These floods left most of the families in Kasese landless, no food, no houses, no bedding's and most of them have moved to camps with nothing to eat or use and 700 single women with at-least 7 children are the most suffering because they don't have helper and provide food and household domestic items and provide Psycho-social support to traumatized women.
Heavy rains that occurred in Kasese district on 7-9 May and 21 May 2020 caused the rivers Nyamwamba, Mobuku, and others to burst their banks which led to heavy floods. About 9,876 are displaced and Other displaced persons are temporarily hosted in camps, while others are hosted by their relatives and friends. The floods destroyed infrastructure and household properties and some people died. People are now starving and at risk diseases like cholera among others, we need support 700 women
MIWODIF will provide food, plates, cups, blankets, mattress, cloths, soap jerrycans, source pans among others to 700 single women households and elderly who are in camps and those staying with relatives. distribute condoms and implants to prevent pregnancies and STIs. Train women in disaster rescue reduction, prevention of others diseases that may occur due to the effects of floods like cholera, corona virus, HIV among others. provide the women and elderly with Psycho-social counselling.
700 women supported by the project to address Hygiene and sanitation through digging latrine pits and other hygiene facilities which were severely damaged hence posing a threat of the outbreak of diarrhea diseases. The project will support 700 women and elderly provide the women and elderly with Psycho-social counselling are free from trauma and healthy.
