Students can't concentrate when they're hungry. The Ishahayi Beach School Foundation supports two successful schools in desperately poor communities. In addition to purchasing food staples like rice, beans, yams and vegetables, funds raised through this project will be used to buy food storage containers, pots, pans and cooking utensils. Your donations will fund a healthy and substantial meal for each student, each school day.
The students that the Ishahayi Beach School Foundation serves come from two very poor communities. A school lunch is the heartiest meal that these children receive each day. A healthy meal makes a huge impact on the students' concentration and learning ability. By helping these students reach their full potential in school, we hope they can break the cycle of poverty into which they were born.
IBSF has recently rehabilitated the kitchen areas at each school. Our new, clean facilities allow village helpers to prepare hot, hearty lunches for the children. By providing nutritious ingredients for cooking, the schools' hot lunch program will model healthy behavior for the surrounding community. A hot and nutritionally-balanced meal helps the students learn to the best of their ability.
In a community with limited access to healthcare, nutrition is key to keeping children healthy and growing. We're already giving local kids a boost in life by supporting a quality education; now we'd like to see them make the most of it. By enhancing a subsistence-level diet with a hot, healthy school lunch, we hope to see all 320 students reach their full potential.
