Across many cities in Northern Nigeria, thousands of Almajiri and homeless street children beg daily just to eat. This project will provide regular meals, clean clothing, and basic hygiene support to 1,000 vulnerable children. We'll also work with trusted local groups to create safe spaces where these kids can rest, eat, and be treated with dignity.
In many parts of Northern Nigeria, thousands of Almajiri and homeless street children roam the streets without food, clean clothes, or shelter. Most of them rely on begging to survive and are often exposed to abuse, illness, and extreme hunger. Many have been abandoned or sent far from home with no real care, making them some of the most neglected children in the country.
This project will provide hot meals, clean clothes, and basic hygiene items to 1,000 Almajiri and homeless street children. By working with trusted community groups, we'll set up safe spots where children can eat, clean up, and rest. This direct support will reduce hunger, sickness, and the daily stress these children face just to survive.
Over time, this project can help reduce the number of hungry, unkempt, and sick children on the streets. When children are fed and cared for, they're more likely to stay safe and open to learning opportunities later on. It also encourages community-led care systems that can grow stronger and support even more children beyond this project - including helping prepare some of the younger ones for possible adoption into caring homes
