The Academic School Year has Officially Started!

By Nikki Do | PeaceTrees Vietnam Intern

School has officially started! With COVID-19 largely contained, we welcomed students back to our 18 kindergartens in central Vietnam in early September. PeaceTrees Vietnam has numerous prevention measures in place to ensure that the children are learning in a safe and healthy environment.

We are also excited to announce the completion and opening of a new Prin Thanh Kindergarten classroom! Doors opened for the first time this year and the new classroom ensures that all 60 kindergarteners in the community now have access to an early childhood education. It is with your continued support and generosity that we are able to continue funding new kindergarten projects.

Unfortunately we must also share that Central Vietnam is currently coping with the aftermath of devastating storms and flooding. More than 130,000 Quang Tri residents are directly impacted by the floods and many communities remain inaccessible by road because of high water and landslides. The presence of explosive remnants of war—which can shift and become exposed during floods—further increases risk to those whose lives and livelihoods are already impacted. Thanks to donors like you, PeaceTrees is providing immediate emergency relief to those who were severely affected by the storms.

On behalf of all of us at PeaceTrees Vietnam, thank you for your commitment and support. Your endless generosity continues to help rebuild the lands and lives affected by the legacies of war. Your donations make it possible for us to continue to expand our kindergarten programs and provide opportunities for children across Quang Tri and Quang Binh Province!
