An Update from PeaceTrees' Kindergartens

By Viana Dang | Community Engagement Assistant

This spring, PeaceTrees Vietnam (PeaceTrees) welcomed a Citizen Diplomacy group to Quang Tri Province. The group visited several of the kindergartens supported through GlobalGiving. They spent time in classrooms with students and teachers, and followed parts of the school day as it unfolded. The visit gave a closer look at how these programs support children in their earliest years of learning.

Across Quang Tri, PeaceTrees has now constructed 25 kindergartens. During the 2025–2026 school year, over 500 students attended these schools and over 700 children participated in PeaceTrees' nutrition lunch program. The meals continue to shape the school day in a very direct way. For many children at PeaceTrees' kindergartens, lunch is the meal they can count on. A warm meal allows them to stay in class and remain present in their learning without interruption.

We also recognized International Day of Play last month. In our kindergartens, play is part of how children settle into school. It is where they get comfortable in their environment and begin building relationships with the children around them. It often becomes the starting point for learning and we're so glad to be able to provide that space to kindergarteners throughout Quang Tri Province.

Thank you for continuing to support this work. Your contributions keep these classrooms open throughout the year. They make it possible for children to receive meals and education in the same place. They also help ensure that these schools remain a steady part of daily life in the communities that rely on them.
