Thanks to your support, thousands of Colombians affected by the severe rainy season have received vital food assistance in their time of greatest need.
Over the past two months, Colombia has endured devastating rains, floods, and landslides. Entire communities have been displaced, crops destroyed, and access to food severely restricted. Families are struggling to survive. Nationwide, more than 120,000 families have been affected across 587 municipalities in 31 departments.
The situation on the ground has been heartbreaking. In many areas, homes have been washed away, and families have lost the little they had—clothing, shelter, food reserves, even the ability to earn a basic income. Roads are blocked, bridges have collapsed, and some towns have been completely cut off from assistance. The emotional toll is immense, especially for children and the elderly.
Through our national alliance with other Food Banks and a strong network of churches and local partners, we have been able to mobilize and deliver thousands of emergency food packages to the hardest-hit regions. Each package contains rice, pasta, canned goods, oil, and other essential items that help sustain families who have lost everything. These partnerships are key to reaching even the most remote communities where official aid cannot always arrive, ensuring that help is timely, effective, and compassionate.
In places like Meta, Chocó, Cundinamarca, La Guajira, and Antioquia, your generosity has helped fill empty kitchens and restore dignity around the dinner table.
This prolonged and destructive rainy season is not yet over. The damage continues, and so does the need. But thanks to your support, we are there—with food, presence, and hope.
From all of us at the Banco de Alimentos de Bogotá and from the thousands of families who have received your kindness, thank you for standing with us and walking with us on this journey. We invite you to continue with us: Together Against Hunger.
