Half a million more people are expected to flee and there are limited resources to deal with the influx of people. Schools have been converted into shelters for the displaced, but they do not have adequate facilities to support people. There are growing concerns about a humanitarian crisis, especially as winter approaches. Triumphant Mercy is adopting shelters to providing hot food each day for the displaced families.
Recent Israeli attacks in Lebanon are part of the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. The attacks, which began in response to rising tensions in the region, have resulted in airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions and other infrastructure. The UN estimates there are already 500,000 displaced people seeking refuge in public schools or sleeping on the ground in parks, which is 10% of the total Lebanese population.
With this displacement more than 70,000 people are already being housed in public schools across Beirut. Triumphant Mercy is adopting shelters and is making hot meals each day for the people staying in these shelters.
In 2006 when Lebanese when families were displaced Triumphant Mercy provided food. The staff developed relationships and instilled hope. Being the listening ear and offering a safe presence and sharing the love of God were able to send the people back mentally and emotionally strong with hope for rebuilding.
