Syria faces a severe humanitarian crisis, with millions enduring food and economic insecurity. The prolonged conflict has destroyed infrastructure and inflated essential goods' prices, leading to crippling inflation. As Ramadan approaches, many families struggle to secure daily meals, making fasting observance particularly challenging. This project aims to distribute food baskets and provide daily hot iftar meals to support these vulnerable families during Ramadan.
The ongoing conflict in Syria has led to widespread infrastructure destruction and a dramatic rise in living costs. Basic food items have become unaffordable for many, with stagnant wages and a devalued local currency. Families struggle to obtain even one meal per day, pushing them into extreme poverty. During Ramadan, a month of communal meals and spiritual reflection, economic hardships prevent families from observing traditional fasting customs.
To address this pressing issue, our project will distribute food baskets and provide hot iftar meals during Ramadan. Each basket will include essential items like rice, sugar, lentils, oil, flour, and legumes, sufficient to support a family's nutritional needs throughout the month. Additionally, we will prepare and distribute complete, nutritious hot meals daily in areas with high concentrations of needy families, ensuring they have adequate sustenance to break their fast.
While this project addresses immediate nutritional needs during Ramadan, it also fosters a sense of community and hope among affected populations. Consistent support during the holy month can improve overall well-being and resilience, contributing to long-term recovery and stability. Moreover, the project emphasizes solidarity and collective responsibility, encouraging continued support for rebuilding efforts in Syria.
