Dear Donors,
For a family forced to flee violence, hunger can begin almost immediately.
There may be no time to pack food, clothes or household belongings. A mother may leave carrying her child. A father may leave behind the farm that fed his family and provided their income. Within hours, a family that once cooked its own meals can find itself wondering where the next meal will come from.
This is the reality facing many displaced families across Nigeria.
The latest figures show just how serious the hunger crisis has become. The Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that 36.3 million people faced severe acute food insecurity in Nigeria during the June–August 2026 lean season. About 2.1 million were facing Emergency levels of hunger, while thousands in Borno were experiencing conditions classified as Catastrophe. Conflict and insecurity have also displaced millions of Nigerians from their homes and livelihoods.
For displaced families, losing a home can also mean losing farmland, stored food, livestock, a business and the income needed to buy food. Parents who once provided for themselves can suddenly become dependent on whatever assistance reaches them.
Children suffer heavily when food becomes scarce. UNICEF estimates that around 3 million children in Nigeria require life-saving treatment for severe wasting in 2026. For a young child, prolonged hunger is not simply the discomfort of an empty stomach. Malnutrition can weaken the body and leave a child less able to fight disease.
This is why Feed Nigerian Families in Crisis Facing Hunger is needed.
Our project will provide emergency food and basic household assistance to displaced families who have lost their homes and means of survival. We also plan to provide temporary shelter for families sleeping in unsafe conditions. Children, women, older people and families facing severe hardship will receive priority.
Sometimes humanitarian assistance begins with something very ordinary: a family being able to cook and eat a meal.
For a mother who has been wondering what she will give her children that evening, a food pack means more than its contents. For children who have gone to sleep hungry, it means having something to eat. For parents who have lost almost everything, it means knowing that someone has not forgotten them.
To every donor supporting this project, thank you. Your kindness helps us stand beside families at a moment when they are struggling to meet some of life's most basic needs.
The need remains enormous, but every family reached matters. Every meal matters. Every child protected from hunger matters.
Please continue to share this project with your family, friends and colleagues. More people need to know what displaced families in Nigeria are facing and why food assistance remains urgently needed.
Thank you for standing with families who have been forced from their homes and for reminding them that, even in their hardest moments, they have not been forgotten.
