Every child deserves a healthy start, yet malnutrition threatens hundreds in Niger State. This project will feed 300 severely and moderately malnourished children with life-saving RUTF, fortified porridge, and micronutrient supplements. Partnering with local clinics and community health workers, we will monitor recovery and equip caregivers with practical nutrition skills, creating lasting change for children and families.
Malnutrition in Niger State is a silent killer, stunting growth, weakening immunity, and reducing learning potential. Children under five are most at risk, with malnourished children up to 12 times more likely to die from common illnesses like diarrhea or pneumonia. Without urgent intervention, their futures are permanently compromised, reinforcing cycles of poverty and limiting community development.
We will identify and enroll 300 at-risk children through health clinics and community health workers. Severely malnourished children will receive RUTF monthly, while others get fortified porridge. Caregivers will attend hands-on nutrition classes and cooking demonstrations using local ingredients. Combining immediate food support with education and recovery monitoring ensures children regain health safely and sustainably.
Rehabilitating 300 children saves lives and prevents irreversible developmental delays. Healthy children can grow, learn, and thrive, contributing to stronger communities. Caregivers' new nutrition knowledge spreads to siblings and households, multiplying impact. Over time, this intervention breaks cycles of malnutrition and poverty, building healthier, more resilient generations in Niger State.
