Project Report

Overview
Since November 28, the escalation of hostilities in Syria has led to the internal displacement of approximately one million individuals, including 155,000 experiencing secondary displacement. Women and children represent the majority of those affected, with nearly half of the displaced population being women and girls. The most impacted governorates include Aleppo (542,600 displaced), Hama (347,100), and Homs (26,000).

Challenges
Internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees continue to grapple with severe food insecurity, a situation made worse by ongoing displacement and prolonged instability. The repeated movement of families prevents them from establishing consistent livelihoods and access to food. Vulnerable groups—including women, children, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and marginalized families—face heightened difficulty in securing basic nutritional needs. These circumstances lead to rising hunger and financial pressure, highlighting the urgent need for tailored food assistance programs.

Proposed Solution
Ufuk Horizon Development Foundation aims to address this critical need by implementing a comprehensive food assistance project targeting the most vulnerable IDPs and returnees in the affected regions. The program includes the distribution of bread, ready-to-eat rations, and food baskets designed to meet the minimum daily caloric intake of 2,100 kcal per person. Each food basket will be composed of nutritionally balanced items that provide essential dietary support.

To ensure transparency and accountability, the project incorporates detailed documentation, registration, and media reporting at each stage, guaranteeing that support reaches those in greatest need with integrity and efficiency.

Funding Status and Concerns
While the project design is ready for implementation, recent reductions in fundraising have significantly impacted our ability to launch activities as planned. The drop in available resources means we are currently unable to procure and distribute the intended food assistance. This funding shortfall directly affects the scope and scale of support we can offer to displaced families and returnees.

Unless new funding is secured promptly, a large number of highly vulnerable individuals may remain without the food support they urgently need. This delay could worsen the already critical humanitarian situation in the targeted areas.

Call to Action
We appeal to donors, partners, and supporters to join us in responding to this urgent need. With additional contributions, Ufuk Horizon can move forward with procurement, packaging, and distribution of food baskets to thousands of displaced families—offering not only immediate relief but also a sense of stability and care.

Conclusion
Although implementation is currently delayed due to funding constraints, Ufuk Horizon remains steadfast in its commitment to serve the most affected populations in Syria. We continue to engage with partners to secure the necessary resources and are fully prepared to act swiftly once funding becomes available. Together, we can deliver meaningful support and restore hope to those who need it most.
