This project will establish 10 cassava plantations and processing units in Manyu Division, providing a rich supply of cassava by-products and a market where 500 women whose families are affected of Covid-19; HIV/AIDS as well as suffering from malnutrition, would have enough food to feed themselves and some finances to make their lives normal again.
There are currently more than 2000 Covid-19 victims, HIV/AIDS patients and malnourished children living in 10 poorest communities in Manyu Division of the South West Region of Cameroon who are at high risk of hunger. Although there is meagre food aid which is coming from donors, there is the proof that the affected population is not having enough to live-by. The entire population is experiencing food rationing and starvation is on the rise.
The project plans to build the capacities of the affected communities (especially women) in cassava value chain, establish 10 cassava plantations and processing units and help the population produce and distribute food to the hungriest households in the affected communities. The skills and knowledge acquired by these women will be shared with women in other communities.
The project will educate 2000 women allowing them and their families to rise out of poverty and hunger, which will provide for their families' health and well-being.
