Dear GlobalGiving Community,
Thank you for standing with families facing extreme hunger in Butebo District, Uganda. In Uganda’s Eastern Region, poverty rates reach 41%, and in Butebo, devastating drought conditions have pushed 88.3% of families into severe hunger. Widowed mothers caring for orphaned children are often forced to skip meals so their little ones can eat.
Through American Aid (A A Relief), we are preparing to support 350 vulnerable families, including 200 widowed mothers caring for orphaned children, with immediate food relief and a practical pathway toward sustainable food security.
Progress Update (April 2026)
This reporting period, funding remains unchanged at $100 from one generous donor. While we are still in the earliest stage of fundraising, we used this quarter to strengthen readiness and coordination so we can begin food distributions quickly as donations increase.
Key progress included:
• Ongoing partner coordination and monitoring: Maintaining active communication with local partners and community leadership to track the evolving impact of drought and hunger.
• Refining our three-tier program model: Ensuring our approach can deliver immediate relief while building long-term stability.
• Implementation planning and documentation readiness: Strengthening tracking and reporting plans so donors receive transparent updates once distributions begin.
Community Need & Why This Project Matters
The need in Butebo District remains urgent:
• Most families survive on one meagre meal per day, increasing malnutrition and health risks.
• Failed harvests and limited market access leave households with few options to recover.
• Children’s growth and education are directly impacted when hunger becomes a daily reality.
• Widowed caregivers face the harshest burden, often sacrificing their own nutrition to feed orphaned children.
This project is about more than food—it is about protecting children’s futures and restoring dignity to families who have endured crisis after crisis.
Program Model (What Funding Will Deliver)
American Aid (A A Relief) will deliver sustainable change through a three-tier approach:
• Immediate monthly food packages for 350 vulnerable families (grains, beans, cooking oil)
• Agricultural training + drought-resistant seed distribution to support future harvests and reduce dependence
• Nutrition education + market access development to strengthen household health and long-term resilience
Your support makes this practical and measurable: $25 feeds a family for one week with nutritious meals.
Challenges & Strategic Response
Primary Challenge: Funding remains far below the level needed to begin consistent food distributions at scale.
Our response:
• Strengthening readiness so we can start immediately as soon as funding grows
• Improving documentation and impact tracking to maintain transparency and build donor confidence
• Expanding outreach to donors and partners focused on food security and drought response
Next Quarter Plan (Pending Funding)
In the next quarter, as funding increases, we will:
1. Finalize beneficiary verification with local partners for the most vulnerable households.
2. Launch initial food package distributions for priority families.
3. Begin phased rollout of agricultural training and drought-resistant seed support.
4. Share clear reporting on outputs (families reached, food packages delivered) and outcomes (reduced hunger barriers, improved stability).
Expected Long-Term Impact
With full implementation, this project will create lasting change in Butebo District:
• Families stabilize and reduce hunger-related crises.
• Children attend school more consistently, no longer distracted by hunger.
• Widowed mothers gain tools to protect their households and rebuild food independence.
• Communities become more resilient through sustainable agriculture and improved nutrition practices.
We are ready to begin as soon as funding increases. Your donation can provide immediate nourishment today—and help build a future where families grow their own food and stand on their own feet.
With gratitude,
The American Aid (A A Relief) Team IRS-registered 501(c)(3) — all donations are tax-deductible
