Project Overview
In the impoverished and rural communities of Southeast Nigeria, hunger is more than an empty stomach—it’s a heavy burden that strips away strength, health, and dignity. With a deep sense of purpose, the Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation (SOHF), with support from GlobalGiving and compassionate partners, launched a response to mitigate the growing food insecurity ravaging families in this region.
Despite limited resources, our focus remained on impact, inclusion, and immediate relief, reaching the most vulnerable with the little we had—because no one deserves to go to bed hungry.
How the Funds Were Used
The total amount of $522 was carefully utilized to address the most pressing needs:
Emergency Food Distribution (rice, beans, garri, oil, condiments): $312
Nutrition Support for Undernourished Children & Elderly (millet, peanut paste, dates, soya pap): $110
Community Outreach, Transport, and Logistics: $70
Monitoring & Reporting: $30
Impact in Numbers
Thanks to your generosity, over 250 individuals directly benefited from this intervention:
80 children received nutritional support
50 vulnerable families received food baskets
120 elderly and widows were supported with emergency relief
A Voice from the Field
"This food saved my life. I had nothing for three days before your team came. May God bless all of you who remembered us"— Chinonso, a single mother of four, in rural Abia State
These words, simple yet profound, reflect the lifesaving power of compassion in action.
Looking Ahead – Our Prospects
The fight against hunger in Southeast Nigeria is far from over—but we are not deterred. At SOHF, our next phase focuses on building long-term food resilience:
Homegrown food solutions: Training women and youths in home gardening, snail farming, and agro-processing.
Youth-Led Agripreneurship: Empowering young people to become part of the solution through agriculture-based enterprise.
Community Food Banks: Creating sustainable food reserves in vulnerable communities.
Policy Engagement & Advocacy: Working with local stakeholders to prioritize hunger reduction in rural development planning.
We believe in transforming charity into sustainability—not just feeding people for a day, but empowering them to feed themselves for a lifetime.
Gratitude
To our donors, partners, and every person who made this possible:
Your generosity nourished more than bodies—it restored hope.
Your support proves that even the smallest acts of kindness can ripple into monumental change.
We invite you to continue walking this journey with us—because with shared hands and open hearts, we can end hunger, one community at a time.
Warmest regards,
Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation
