Let's end gender-based violence in Africa.

Hi Everyone!
Initially, we determined that we needed to make it as simple as possible for women who are victims of domestic violence to contact us, so we funded a "toll-free" phone number and the messaging app WhatsApp for women to use in order to do so for a full year. The marketing of this number received a $200 investment from us. As soon as we started receiving calls, we started taking action.
We have helped over 300 women by utilising pro bono solicitors and safe houses, but sadly, at the end of February, our donations will be exhausted, and we won't be able to offer a free phone service or any additional financial assistance. Nevertheless, we will continue to answer the phone and assist where we can.
We will continue to fight, and we appreciate your tremendous assistance with our project.
Thank you so much for your support!

Women Retrain and Start A New Life
Hello Supporters,
Since we began we have raised just over $600 on GlobalGiving and from our own fundraising and donors we raised a further $1,000. So what did we do with all these funds that were donated?
Firstly we decided we needed to make it as easy as possible for women that are victims of domestic violence to get in touch with us so we funded 12 months a 'Toll-free' phone number and WhatsApp for women to reach us we then put $200 towards the marketing of this number and wow did this work! We were flooded with calls and we jumped into action.
Now the next stage was providing support for these women to help them through their situation and everyone is different. Some we had to move quickly to safe homes, others we worked with them on different exit strategies and in some cases we were able to take some victims to a lawyer and take legal action. The remaining donated funds went to covering transport costs to and from the courts and paid for expenses for these women along with the relocation to safe homes. Using pro-bono lawyers and safe houses we have supported over 300 women but sadly at the end of February our donations run out and we will not be able to provide a free phone service or any additional financial support but we will continue to pick up the phone and help where we can.
We can't stop our fight and you have really helped us so much with our project so thank you!

No to gender based violence

Introduction
42.7% of women between the ages of 15-49 have experienced domestic violence in their lives. Due to gender inequality, women often don't have access to the same level of education as men, leading to them becoming financially dependent on their husbands. Many men also feel as though they 'own their wives' because of the Lobola (Bride Price) paid before marriage. This issue doesn't just affect the women but many have children who have to witness or be subjected to the same violence.
Report
By providing assistance and therapy to women in difficult situations we hope to empower them to become independent and seek viable and safe forms of employment. This will increase their contribution to the economy and reducing inequality. COVID has aggravated the issue of domestic violence, but the recent instalment of our domestic violence phone line has been a huge success in providing women with a way to get help and we hope with more donations to increase our impact. It costs $40 per month for one emergency line.
Thank you for your support
